Engaged!
Yasir and I went for a check up at Prince Court yesterday (yupp, we finally decided on me delivering at PCMC - but guess what! We changed docs! Sigh, long story). Anyway I don't really wanna yack on about hospitals and docs anymore, just letting you guys know that we changed to Dr. Paul Tay, recommended by my cousin Kak Sazzy. Goodbye dreamy/charming doc. Sniff. Anyway, the baby is already in the engaged position, which is head down. This is the position they should be in ideally, when it's time to deliver. I've still got at least a month plus to go but he's already in that position. Maybe he can't wait to see his mommy :) eheheheheh. I'm just praying that he stays like that, because there is a possibility that your baby could go back into breech position. Staying positive! Oh, and we tried to do a 3D scan too, but could not see his face clearly - but we could make out that he was sucking his thumb again! Think it's already a habit he's developed in there :) He now weighs 2.5kgs (that's around 5.5 pounds), which is quite 'semangat'. Doc was kinda surprised, because he said from looking at the size of my tummy, he wouldn't have picked it. It's one of God's miracles - a pregnant woman could have a small tummy, but be carrying a huge baby. Amazing.
Okay, evening nap time. Slept close to 3am last night.

The day we became man and wife.
I was going through some photos on facebook and decided to reminisce the day Yasir and I became husband and wife. Here are some photos of our nikah/solemnisation ceremony. So much thought was put into every itty bitty little detail - it was truly a labour on love, on my part. 17th July 2010 was definitely a day to remember.
Sayang, I will always be by your side and I will always love you, too.
Sincerely yours,
'Aainaa

The 5 basic pieces in a pregstar's wardrobe.
Alright, so I'm not an expert in fashion or anything (do I get some credit for my fashion writer stint at female magazine though? no? oh well, thought I'd give it a shot), but I have narrowed down the top 5 basic things you must have in your 'pregstar' wardrobe, which will have you looking like a stunna soon-to-be momma even on your I-can't-be-arsed-to-look-human days:
- Maxi dresses
I cannot stress this enough. Stress, dress, that rhymes, it's a sign. Anyway, ladies, you can never have too many of these when you're pregnant. Thank god I was a fan of maxi dresses since Mahathir was still PM, so I have quite a few of these lifesavers in my pre-pregger wardrobe. Why do we love maxi dresses? They come with the C word - comfy. They also come with another C word - cute. We like these two C words combined together, I'm sure. You just slip 'em on, put on a pair of sandals, cute sunnies and you are off to conquer the world. Or in most cases, out for lunch and then back to the sofa you go. A tip though: some maxi dresses are very pouffy, and flare out too much, which may make you look like a walking tent and can be quite unflattering for preggos. Try getting one of those maxi dresses which don't cling to you like saran wrap of course, but still hug your hips just a tad and fall nicely, so people can see that bodacious, shapely figure you're rocking. And not too long too, we don't want you tripping over! The maxi dress I wore to my tea party baby shower is currently my absolute fave - it is so comfy, it's ridiculous. Oh yes, pick a maxi dress in a light material, nothing heavy like velvet or suede, unless you want your thighs drenched in sweat. Mmm, sexy.
- Leggings, jeggings...anything else that ends with 'ggings'
Once you realise you can absolutely NOT fit into your old jeans anymore (this realisation hits you after you huff and puff and turn red in the face as you try to squeeze into the sucker, then you start seeing stars as you sit dejectedly on the floor with your jeans around your knees), see the light and turn to leggings. They feel your pain. They will not judge you, but will grow WITH you. Best thing is, they go with almost everything, because they're in solid black. Yes, black. No WHITE please, people. Don't do that to yourself. Or go ahead and get them grey ones too - I have one in black and grey. And if you're feeling fancy, get jeggings - the ones which look like jeans, but are sneakily leggings. People will think you're uber stylish because you're still wearing skinny jeans even when you look like you're carrying a watermelon under your top. When they go "wow, you can still wear skinny jeans??" just shrug, like it's effortless. Works everytime. Word of caution though : When you're in your third trimester, you may want to cut down on the legging lurve a tad bit, because you may feel a wee bit 'restricted' in the leg area. And lorrd knows we don't want to encourage bloating. Back to the maxi dresses then, I say!
- Tank tops (extra long ones)
Alright, this one's a little tricky. Tank tops are awesome. They are a basic in every wardrobe. But for pregstars, you may have to spend extra time picking out tank tops which will cover your tum-tum. Yes, it may be a tad frustrating finding some at first, but once you've found them, you'll be glad you made the effort. During my second trimester when I was slowly but surely outgrowing most of the tops in my closet, I went over to Forever 21 and literally grabbed every single tank top I saw. Everyone who saw me thought I was nuts. I was in and out of that changing room like a lightning flash (second trimester so I could move faster then) and the salesgirl had A LOT of folding up to do after I was done. Pretty sure she gave me the evil eye, but I was too focused on my mission to care. Finally I emerged triumphantly with 5 (or was it 6? Forever 21 was having a huge sale!) tank tops which were super comfy and covered my belly, with a lot more length to spare. I bought them in basic colours too - black, beige, grey, dark green etc) so they are very versatile when it comes to dressing them up. I team my tank tops with a light scarf sometimes. And of course, what elso do I usually pair my tank tops with? My leggings, of course. Oh, and I also wear them a lot with.....
- Cardigans or any cover up (boleros, blazers etc)
Another thing beginning with C that we like. Why do we like this? Because they are so versatile - wear them with dresses, tops, over your head when you're caught in the rain and need to make a run for it...but seriously, for days when you don't feel like showing the world your jinggly janglies (aka arms), cardigans are your lifesavers. I think at one point in my second trimester, I started wearing my long, slouchy black cardigan everyday, to a point where my sister even remarked "Do you really have to wear that everyday?" Yes, kakak, I was going through a phase, leave me alone :p Anything along the lines of cover-up, is good. I am obsessed with my slouchy bolero thingamagic thingy I bought from Topshop months ago. A tad bit pricey, but I knew investing in it would be worth it. It's sorta like the one below, but longer and in a chiffon-ish, breezy-ish fabric (I know, I know, I can't believe I was a fashion writer at female mag either):
Anyway, a 'slouchy' fit always looks super chic. Pair it with your maxi dress, like I always do!
- Babydoll dresses
This might seem a bit un-basic, but I find babydoll dresses to be just like maxi dresses - comfy and cute. I do have a few dresses I can still fit into due to their babydoll style, and have definitely maxed them out in terms of wear so far during my pregnancy. I find that whenever I'm too lazy to put an outfit together, I usually go back to my dresses. As simple as slipping one over my head, pairing it with some flats and off I go for the day!
So there you go - the 5 basic pieces! Can't live without 'em. That, and my pyjama pants!
Sloppy kisses,
Aainaa

My Lolli-POP tea party baby shower
My awesome ex UITM friendsthrew me a mini tea party baby shower last Saturday at T Forty Two (did I get that right?) at Bangsar Village II. I had so much fun catching up with everyone, this group of people are faaaab. The food was good, we had macaroons, petite sandwiches, scones with jam..mmmm. And Ayden received really cool presents too, very useful stuff that will defo come in handy. All in all, it was a lovely gathering :) On to some pics (a bit blurry because they're mobile uploads!):
Five chicks and a baby boy - Mika is such a sweety, but he was a bit grumpy because he had a shot at the doctors earlier, poor thing.
The mastermind behind the shower, Shaz! "Auntie Shaz will see you in 20 years time!" she said to Ayden. Uh-oh. haha
Ta-daaaah! It's a Bean bottle sterilizer & warmer! Nadia helped pick this gift out, coz she's a momma and mommas know what's best ;)
I think the baby was excited too, because at this point he started kicking furiously!

So I've decided...
I'm making this blog private really soon, because I have a baby coming soon insya-allah, and if I were to post pics of Ayden up here and our activities, I don't need crazy, judgmental people even laying their beady little eyes on him. The reason my blog is public in the first place is just to share my stories and experiences with people who might find what I have to say somewhat interesting - not to be judged by people who don't even know me. But I really can't control the fact that there are idiots who are going to have nasty things to say to you to bring you down because they simply find pleasure out of doing so. All that matters to me now is that I have a son I need to protect, and shield from these people. Anyway, when exactly this blog will be privatised is yet to be decided..but definitely before Ayden comes. Gotta go, Yasir's here and we're going for a 4D scan! SO EXCITED! :D

baby shower goodies :)
Thought it would be fun to document the stuff Ayden received at his baby shower! Yes, I was checking my hair out from time to time to make sure I don't look like a cave woman, because I just had it shampoo-ed. Of course, there will always be those of you that will think I care more about my hair than about my baby, so for those people, up yours. For the rest of you lovely people - enjoy the vid! :)

Bio Oil and Pureen Stretch Mark Lotion review
People review makeup products, I review stretch mark lotions/oils. That's probably because the last time I bought myself makeup, humans still lived in caves and men dragged their dinner back home to roast over a fire (seriously, you should see my Laura Mercier compact. It has died and gone to makeup heaven, but I'm still in denial). So today, boys and girls, I am going to shed some light on these two products that I've been alternatively using for the past 8 months. Exciting!
First up, Bio Oil:
So, this baby ain't a stranger to the 'stretchmark' scene and claims to be a miracle worker at keeping the bad boys at bay. I've only started using this into my seventh month of pregnancy, because I had drained my Pureen lotion (more on that later) to the very last dollop.
Application : This goes on pretty oily, not going to lie. I usually dot it on straight out of the shower (after a good rub down with the towel of course) and smooth this all over my belly. What it does is sit on the skin - it doesn't really 'sink' upon application, and stays a tad bit oily almost throughout half the day. What I would suggest is at least waiting for it to dry a bit on the belly before putting on an outfit, because when you're in a rush, you get this uncomfortable sticky sensation between your stomach and your clothes, which could result in your tummy feeling extra itchy. Anyway, you're supposed to apply this twice a day, but I'm a lazy ass, so I apply this once a day, in the morning.
Verdict : So far, so good. No stretchmarks just yet, but we'll just have to wait and see. It doesn't really take the itchiness away, I have a friend who says it helps in that department, but I still get the urge to scratch every now and then. Not quite a big fan of the icky, oily texture though. I still have almost more than half a bottle to go, so one bottle will definitely last for more than 2 months. I foresee myself using this even after delivery (just because there's a lot left over!)
Rates: 3.5/5
The next contender, Pureen Stretch Mark Lotion:
This was recommended by a friend of Yasir who swears by the stuff. She claims that it is THE best stretch mark lotion, because she's tried all the expensive types and none of them are as good as this one. So of course I decided to try this, as soon as I found out I was preggers. I should mention that this lotion is fairly cheap too - I think around rm20-ish? Score!
Application: Same routine, straight out of the shower, on mildly damp skin. Supposedly twice a day, but I only apply this once. Some people love layering on the lotion thick because it's supposed to work better if you do, but I just slather on around 2 - 3 pumps of the stuff. It does sink into the skin a little bit, and definitely dries off faster than Bio Oil does. And you don't get that icky feeling when you put on your clothes after. Smells pretty nice too...a mild, soft smell, which Yasir says smells like 'baby'. That must be a good thing right?
Verdict: Not bad, not bad at all. Considering I stretched (pardon the pun) one bottle to last me up till my 7th month of pregnancy (some days I'd apply it, some days I forgot, that's why!) I am quite pleased with the results so far. Honestly, I would've just continued using this, if it weren't for that day when I freaked out because I thought the stretchmarks had already reared their ugly heads (false alarm) and figured I needed to use something more intense, so I bought Bio Oil. Should've just stuck with this - I still have my old bottle and scrape that poor little thing like nobody's business from time to time. Doesn't really make sense for me to own two stretch mark products, so I didn't want to waste money getting a new bottle (SEE I AM ECONOMICALLY SAVVY). Would I recommend this? Definitely.
Rates: 4/5
p/s: Just for the record, my cousin Sazzy says her friend Daphne Iking swears by Clarins Stretch mark lotion (she's stretchmark free).

Diaper bag S.O.S
It's almost March, and if I'm going to get a diaper bag soon, I should get a crackin'! Coz the bag needs to be ordered by my cousin Aza who's in The States, and I need to transfer money yada yada yada..so it's quite a lengthy process. I need thoughts and opinions from anyone who's reading this, because obviously my darling husband doesn't give a *toot* about what diaper bag I choose, and to make a decision on my own is making me loony. I've sort of narrowed it down to two brands (after telling myself Angelina Jolie's Hammitt bag is definitely a no go). Drumroll please! :
1) Timi and Leslie Charlie Diaper Bag:
Pros:
- It's reasonably priced (around 150 US Dollars = around rm300+)
- Very roomy (quite large actually, so you can stuff anything but the kitchen sink inside)
- Comes with quite a few accessories..changing mat, bottle insulator, mini purse to stuff mommy's stuff, wet bag etc etc
- If it's good enough for Hollywood celebs, it must be stylish right?
Cons:
- May be a tad too large for some!
...that may just be it?
Here are the colours I am still deliberating over!! Which colour is the nicest??
Should I go with light brown? It looks quite elegant...and would match everything. A definite plus point. Or...
black, which makes it look slightly more casual, and would look awesome with skinny jeans and aviators? Basically, it has that rocker, 'cool momma' feel to it. The bag in action:
Just had to throw that in.
Then there's this other really cute colour (in my opinion), which might not go with everything but is gorgeous!
This one is a lovely teal colour...(kakak do you like this one?) This bag is lovely, but the problem is, I'm not sure I want to be lugging a huge ass teal coloured bag. But so cute though :/ Aaaack. Oh and below are the accessories the bag comes with:
And then there's this other Timi and Leslie diaper bag which I haven't featured in my blog yet, but stumbled across like, today, making it even harder for me to decide!! Behold, the Timi and Leslie Marilyn II Diaper Bag (with accessories):
On its own...
This one is in Cloud Blue. Cloud frikking Blue. It had me at 'Cloud Blue', not gonna lie. Reminds me of Care bears. That's probably why I'm so drawn to the darn thing.
Pros:
- Basically similar to that of the Charlie diaper bag, except just a tad more expensive - 160 US Dollars.
- Not as large as the Charlie, but still very roomy. To get an idea of the size of the bag, here's the youtube review <---click
2) Juicy Couture black velour bag:
Pros:
- Looks like a diaper bag, which some may like, but a stylish one of course
- Comes with chic accessories ('Juicy Couture' imprinted all over the changing pad), 'Couture Baby' on the burping cloth and bib. Refer to my previous 'juicylicious' post if you're keen on seeing what they look like.
- Honestly, I super like the 'Couture baby' imprint on the front. Call me snooty if you want :p
- Roomy (of course I'd only choose roomy diaper bags - beats the whole purpose if I didn't!)
Cons:
- Slightly pricey, compared to Timi and Leslie..the cheapest I've found is around 180 US Dollars. On average, it costs slightly more than 200 dollars.
So what do you guys think? Timi and Leslie (in which design and colour)...or Juicy Couture? Help a soon-to-be momma out? ;) Appreciate your feedback, ladies!
